Introduction

The chapters of this book are adapted from a series of eight sermons I preached at numerous Gospel Meetings. I received many comments at those meetings from people — including from mature Christians of many years — who said they had heard few if any sermons, much less a whole week’s worth, on the topic of this serious yet often overlooked command.

After the encouragement I received at those meetings, I wanted to offer the information herein for the help and prayerful study of as many people as possible, as we all move forward in our service to God. I believe everything written here is in accordance with God’s message, from His word.

Thank you very much for your time, and God’s blessings!

Above all, David gives God both thanks and credit for the high honor of speaking and teaching on God’s behalf at various places through the years. It is his hope that this message of God’s Forgotten Commandment will help all of us as we journey toward God while here below.

Truly my soul silently waits for God;
From Him comes my salvation.
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be greatly moved.
— Psalm 62:1–2
